First Post and New Home
Hello there blog world! I am brand new to the world of blogging, but I plan on giving it my best shot. If you have any tips feel free to let me know :)
Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Stephen, that's all you'll get for now. I am newly married (6 months); my wife's name is Brooke and we have a pup named Lola. We are very happily married, as we should be (it's only been 6 months after all :-P). One thing we absolutely love to do is snowboard; good thing we live in Colorado. Our favorite place to ride is Copper Mountain and I also proposed to Brooke there. Enough of an introduction for now, if you have any questions I'm an open book so ask away.
We just moved into a new home. No, we didn't buy; we're just renting for now. It's a cute little two bedroom perfect for us and our dog, Lola. We got our keys yesterday and started moving everything over from our crammed 1.5 bedroom apartment. Luckily my younger brother, Joshua, was able to come down and help. Unfortunately he had a HEAVY lifting day at school on Thursday so he was extremely sore before we started. He was a champ, however, and powered through to the end; I cannot thank him enough for everything he did for us. We were, luckily, able to unpack almost everything yesterday and get all the furniture where it belongs. Once it hit around one in the morning and we couldn't keep our eyes open anymore we decided to go to bed.
This morning is when the excitement happened...sort of... We started putting up all of our decorations and finished unpacking whatever we had left. I, of course, spent most of my time making sure all of our electronics (especially our internet and my xbox 360) were set up correctly. Our internet was transferred yesterday and a guy came out, but of course when I went to check it this morning it wasn't working anymore. I attempted to reset it myself with no success, but a 5 minute phone call later and we were running smoothly as long as the computer was connected directly to the modem. That's not good enough.
The wireless router had retained all the settings from the network I had set up at our old apartment, yet it wouldn't let the computer connect even if it was wired straight through the router. Tried resetting different things while plugging in and powering on in different orders still with no success. I finally decided to google the model number of our router and download the set up. Ran the set up step by step with the on screen instructions and voila everything was working great. Sweet. Now for the xbox; should be able to just turn it on and connect to the wireless right? Wrong. Turned it on, went to the network settings and it showed it was already connected. Weird. So I tested the connection, which of course failed. Power cycled a few times and it still wasn't working. Now I'm definitely getting frustrated. Something that should have taken 5-10 minutes has now turned into and hour and then some. I finally reset the connection from the xbox and it's good to go, phew.
Hooray! We're all moved in! Wait...what? Our Comcast bill is how much??!? Apparently our Comcast service was upgraded when we moved even though Brooke repeatedly told them not to when she called to tell them we were moving. First call to Comcast: Brooke gets a woman that is willing to do her best to help us after explaining and re-explaining what was wrong, of course. She says she will get the extra charge off our bill but she is unable to downgrade our service...transfer to supervisor, also unable to downgrade service. So, the supervisor says she'll put in the notes (uh oh) that we can have the service for 19.99 for six months for our trouble, but she has to transfer us to the department that can downgrade. Awesome, sounds great. A male answers in the other department and decides he is going to mock Brooke for what she is asking...dick (too extreme? nah)... When she asks to speak with someone else he promptly hangs up on her. Call number two to Comcast: Brooke gets another female who seems to be truly empathetic of everything. In fact, she upgrades our service for less than we were paying before for one year. Truly awesome. She did have to transfer us to billing to get that credit, but the woman in billing gave credited our next bill without question. Wow! True customer service, if only they could all be that awesome! Seems that at Comcast you want to speak to the women to get what you need taken care of.
Anyway, now we're all moved in and all that's left is for me to hang all my pictures and posters in our office/my man cave area. Long story short, we've had the ups and downs of a move, but are extremely happy with our new place and ready to have a long wonderful life together.
p.s. sorry for the super long first post, I hope it was worth your time
